Your Healthiest Weight

Everyone needs a goal and we need positive reasons to achieve those goals. Even taking off a few pounds can provide you with cardiovascular benefits, so every step in the right direction is a step toward healthier living.

The benefits of a healthy weight

Maintaining a healthy weight or losing weight isn't just about getting into those skinny jeans or looking good in a swim suit.  It's about living longer and improving your quality of life. Making small changes in your lifestyle can have a BIG impact on your health. By loosing weight, you could:

  • Experience fewer joint and muscle pains
  • Reduce the burden on your heart and circulatory system
  • Decrease the risk for heart disease and certain cancers
  • Improve your blood pressure
  • Sleep better!

Know your BMI

Your body mass index (BMI) is a good starting point for knowing if your weight is within the ideal range for your body frame. It's calculated based on your height and weight. A BMI less than 25 is considered a healthy weight. A special tracker tool known as the BMI calculator is available to you at The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, also check out our healthy living portal brought to you by Optum.

Take an online Course

As a WHA member, you have access to online tools including video courses on weight management through our wellness portal, which can be accessed through MyWHA Wellness. You can set a goal and a timeline for achieving that goal all in the privacy of your home.
