Nurse Advice

WHA strives to provide our members with innovative ways to support optimal health and lead healthy lifestyles.

Through Optum's Health Portal, you have 24/7 access to interactive health tools and trackers. You also have access to registered nurses through a nurse advice line.

Have a medical concern and are not sure what to do?

NurseLine

WHA provides 24/7 access to a nurse advice line staffed with registered nurses through NurseLine. You can speak directly with a nurse at 877.793.3655 (currently, option 5). Hearing-impaired participants dial in by calling 711, then the toll-free number, 877.793.3655. It rings into our nurse advice line with a slight delay.

This is available every day and at any time of day/night. You may also reach support through a secure chat line here: use start a chat. Registered nurses are available to answer any of your health questions, including direct referrals to disease management nurses. Talk to a nurse for advice and information on:

  • Symptoms you are experiencing
  • Minor illnesses and injuries
  • Chronic conditions
  • Medical tests and medications
  • Preventive care
  • Prepare for doctor visits

Optum nurses can also guide you through important health decisions that combine medical information along with your personal values that help you to make informed decisions about medical tests, medicines, surgeries, and other treatment options. Good health decisions can help you reduce costs while getting better care and take into account:

  • The benefits of each option
  • The risks of each option
  • The costs of each option
  • Your own needs and wants
