Deductible Carry Over Credit

Enrolling in one of our HSA-compatible high-deductible health plans?

You may be entitled to a deductible carry over.

If you received services in the 2015 calendar year that were applied to your deductible with your previous health insurance, you may be eligible for a deductible carry-over with your Western Health Advantage plan. This carry over benefit will only apply if you were previously enrolled in an HSA-compatible plan and are electing an HSA-compatible plan with WHA.

To request a deductible carry-over credit, please provide us with each enrollee's (you and/or your family member's) detailed claim information from your previous health insurance, such as:

  • Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
  • Listing of services received and costs under the deductible - this can be an accumulator print-out from carrier's website
  • Deductible balance statement

This claim documentation needs to be submitted to WHA within 30 days of your effective date.

Via email:

  1. Send a secure message to Employer Group Sales.
  2. Use the message subject, "SIG - Deductible Carry Over Credit".
  3. Attach supporting documentation for each qualifying person:
    • EOB statements
    • Listing of services received and costs under the deductible
    • Deductible balance statement
  4. Enter a message by indicating your name, new member ID number (if available) and the dependents in your family for which these claims represent.

You will receive a receipt of your electronic submission.

You can also mail or fax your request for deductible carry over. Please be sure to write "SIG-deductible carry-over" on the documentation with your (and dependent's) name and send to:
