WHA Rates Highly in Customer Satisfaction

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) rated Western Health Advantage (WHA) as first in Customer Satisfaction among 21 California health plans in its 2018 Health Insurance Plan Ratings. Consumer Satisfaction reflects what patients say about their health plans in satisfaction surveys, including about claims processing and customer service.

“I am pleased that Western Health received this acknowledgement and I give all the credit to our staff, who have worked hard to achieve this rating through their dedication to serving our members,” said Garry Maisel, President and CEO of WHA. “It is an organization-wide corporate goal for Western Health to maintain our NCQA Accreditation.”

The NCQA Health Insurance Plan Ratings provide the public with a picture of how health insurance plans perform in key quality areas of consumer satisfaction, prevention and treatment. The ratings in these three major performance categories give the most importance to Health Outcomes and Consumer Satisfaction. Only health plans that meet or exceed the NCQA’s rigorous requirements receive the highest ratings.

WHA also had a 4.0 score in its overall rating. The NCQA ratings blend dozens of quality indicators for health plans into a simple scale from 1-5, where 1 indicates lower performance and 5 indicates higher performance.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA’s website contains information to help consumers, employers and others make more informed health care choices.
