Western Health Advantage President and CEO Garry Maisel has launched a new blog to discuss the latest trends and industry insights regarding health plans in California.
In his LinkedIn blog, Maisel shares insights from his extensive experience in the health plan industry and life in general, using humor at times spliced with practical advice as he ponders present and future challenges with health care.
Maisel has provided leadership of WHA from the time of its start-up in 1996 to its current recorded annual revenue of more than $700 million. Maisel leads over 250 employees at WHA, who provide award-winning customer service to over 130,000 members. In addition to his commitment to improve the health and well-being of people in northern California through WHA, Maisel supports various community charities and causes, particularly as an active board member.
Western Health Advantage is a non-profit company that was founded by a group of Sacramento and Solano doctors and health care providers. WHA focuses on improving health care access and affordability for a variety of employers and individuals, and is known for developing innovative programs to expand coverage to the uninsured.
In keeping with its local mission, the company serves employers and families in Sacramento, Yolo, Solano, El Dorado, Placer, Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties. Representatives of those founding sponsors, UC Davis Health System, Mercy/Dignity Health, and NorthBay Healthcare serve as the organization's Board of Directors.
