“Western Health Advantage is by far the best place to work for numerous reasons, first and foremost, the culture of the organization thrives on valuing employees through recognition programs and regular incentives. The employees at Western Health Advantage really care about each other, the success of WHA and there is a healthy team dynamic thanks to the influences of our executive team and our CEO, Garry Maisel. Western Health Advantage offers tremendous benefits ranging from an amazing employee recognition program which includes cash distributions for tenure, a remarkable health and wellness program which includes gift cards for making health goals to full gym memberships to California Family Fitness! At WHA you never know what fun event will happen next, our Human Resources Department surprises us with healthy treats and recognition activities on a monthly basis. Not only do I feel like a valued employee every day, I am inspired by my peers and leaders to reach for the stars!”
–Amber Stewart, Manager of Purchasing and Facilities.
“The internal work environment at WHA far exceeds any corporation for which I’ve worked. WHA stresses the importance of family, if an employee needs time off for family emergencies and such, it will happen, you are encouraged to take care of your family. WHA truly values their employees, many people have been at WHA for 10+ years, myself included, WHA experiences very little employee turnover. The company also tries to promote from within the corporation before seeking outside candidates. I am a prime example of this principle, I started my career at WHA as a temporary staff accountant and I’ve grown as WHA has grown, I’m now the financial reporting manager. Two of my team members have also been promoted up to their current positions of staff accountant and accounts payable specialist. Yet another way WHA values its employees is by providing the employees and their families with superb benefits: health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401 (k) matching retirement plans, even medical assistance when traveling away from home, plus many, many other benefits. All employees also have access to training, not just the management team, but companywide! Training is available online and/or in a classroom setting. The employees also have a learning library with books, cds and dvds which are available for check out. WHA also has an employee recognition program where an employee can be recognized for going beyond job expectations and providing assistance to coworkers and others. WHA values the Sacramento community, employees are encouraged to volunteer and participate in fund raising events for many nonprofit organizations in our area - WEAVE, Komen Race for the Cure, Breathe California, etc. WHA has a matching donation program, every employee who donates to a qualified 501 (c) 3 can request that WHA match their donation up to a maximum of $200 per year!!!!
Another rarity in our organization is that ALL of our senior staff are approachable, employees have access to the CEO, CFO, CLO, CAO, etc. Our senior staff know all of our employees’ names!!! Our leaders are not sequestered away from the employees of the organization, but share suites with the employees. We have an effective leadership team, our leaders allow for growth of the organization, but at a very responsible and reasonable rate. I can honestly say, WHA is the best employer in our area!!! I’m proud to be a part of this exceptional organization.”
–Donna Miller-Brown, Financial Reporting Manager
“WHA is a great place to work! Here is a list of reasons why: Family friendly, flexible work schedules, suggestions for changes are received openly, easy to implement changes, great co-workers, friendly environment, lots of training opportunities, senior staff seems to really care that employees are happy and motivated, plenty of celebrations and lots of reasons to celebrate, company has strong community presence, company has a good reputation in the community so I am proud to tell people I work here, promotes a healthy work environment and generous benefits (health, dental, vision, vacation).”

“I have been an employee with Western Health Advantage for over 6 years and have spent over 47 years employed in the private sector. This is the first employer that has ever made me feel like I was a part of something special and I that was important to them to help achieve company goals. I am in outside sales and represent WHA at over 15 events a month and I always have people approach me about how wonderful WHA is. Many have had our health insurance for years and others used to have it, but changed jobs and were not offered our plans. They make me as an employee very proud to be a part of the WHA team. The family feeling that surrounds all of us here at WHA carries over into our private lives as well.”
