“I'm proud to say that I will soon be celebrating my 17th anniversary working at Western Health Advantage! I truly enjoy coming to work in such a family, friendly atmosphere. I can easily brag about WHA's fantastic health benefits package, paid time off to volunteer, fruit/veggie Wednesday's, the employee interactive wellness program, whaFIT or the educational and training opportunities available through WHA University. While I do appreciate all the company "perks", it's WHA's culture of care and committment to its employees and customers that tops my list. The WHA culture reinforced from the top down starts with the Senior Management team; a group of people who are refreshingly down to earth, approachable and caring. Our customers often tell me that WHA employees are such happy people - evidence that WHA is a special place to work. It's inspiring to work for a company who honestly wants to do right by their customers and employees. It would be easy to work for a different company to get a paycheck but not just any company can create a culture that makes me excited to come to work every day!"

“The internal work environment at WHA far exceeds any corporation for which I’ve worked.  WHA stresses the importance of family, if an employee needs time off for family emergencies and such, it will happen, you are encouraged to take care of your family. WHA truly values their employees, many people have been at WHA for 10+ years, myself included. The company also tries to promote from within the corporation before seeking outside candidates. Yet another way WHA values its employees is by providing the employees and their families with superb benefits: health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) matching retirement plans, even medical assistance when traveling away from home, plus many, many other benefits.  All employees also have access to training, not just the management team, but companywide! Training is available online and/or in a classroom setting.  The employees also have a learning library with books, cds and dvds which are available for check out. WHA also has an employee recognition program where an employee can be recognized for going beyond job expectations and providing assistance to coworkers and others. WHA values the Sacramento community; employees are encouraged to volunteer and participate in fundraising events for many nonprofit organizations in our area - WEAVE, Komen Race for the Cure, Breathe California, etc. WHA has a matching donation program, every employee who donates to a qualified 501(c) 3 can request that WHA match their donation up to a maximum of $250 per year!!!!

Another rarity in our organization is that ALL of our senior staff are approachable, employees have access to the CEO, CFO, CLO, CAO, etc. Our leaders are not sequestered away from the employees of the organization, but share suites with the employees. We have an effective leadership team, our leaders allow for growth of the organization, but at a very responsible and reasonable rate. I can honestly say, WHA is the best employer in our area!!! I’m proud to be a part of this exceptional organization.”

“I came to work for WHA two years ago and immediately noticed the positive atmosphere and the importance WHA places on its employees, along with serving our members and communities. WHA provides information on healthy living habits such as diet, exercise, and emotional wellbeing. WHA providers a fun and supportive atmosphere through company events like monthly Wellness Wednesdays, where fresh fruit and vegetables are provided to everyone. We are also encouraged to walk around the block each day and drink plenty of water. By using tools provided by WHA, I stopped smoking cigarettes, I now walk two miles a day, and I feel great. Improving my health has allowed me to do a better job. WHA is a great place to work and stay healthy. WHA cares about its employees and it shows in the quality of people that work for the company."

"After over 30 years in an entirely different field, WHA recognized the value of my customer service skills and gave me the opportunity to join the Individual Sales team. Through the department management and team support, I was able to study for and pass the State licensing exam within my first six months of employment. I was now on my way to a new career at WHA.

In addition to the team and department support, I have been very pleased with the range of benefits - medical, dental, vision and the AWESOME 401(k) retirement program. If these benefits were not enough, the monthly employee recognition and special events add value and satisfaction to my role as a valued employee of WHA."
