Internet Privacy Practices

Western Health Advantage is committed to honoring your privacy.  Please see our Notice of Privacy Practices for the details of how we protect, use and disclose your health information.  See below for details of how we protect, collect, use and disclose other information collected through your use of this website, our mobile app and through email.

Security

We have implemented and maintained technological safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all personal information, including protected health information, submitted by you through the web site.  We use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) to encrypt all information transmitted to or from the secure areas of the web site.  We also use SHA (Secure Hash Algorithms) to safeguard passwords and security question responses stored in an electronic format on WHA resources.  Despite our efforts, we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of any communication or material transmitted to or from us via this website or e-mail.  You must also take responsible and appropriate steps to help protect your private or personal information.  These steps may include but are not limited to the use of complex passwords and the act of not sharing your passwords or the personal data you provide us with others.

Information Collection, Use and Disclosure

By using this website, you consent to the collection and use of information as discussed below.

WHA collects personal information that is voluntarily provided by you on applications, forms, surveys and the chat feature located on our website.  We use this information for the purposes specifically designated on the website, and to provide information, services or access to our records that you have requested.

In addition to personal information, WHA automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your internet domain from which you access the website, the type of browser and operating system you use, IP address, WHA cookie and pixel tag information, the date and time you visited the website, the website you are linked from (if any) and the page you view.  We use this information to customize the content you see, fulfill your requests for services, conduct research, analyze potential security breaches, identify popular features, resolve user, hardware and software problems, and provide aggregate reporting for internal use only.  We, or our third-party partners, may also use this information to deliver advertisements for WHA's offerings on the WHA website or the websites of search engine providers.  WHA cannot guarantee that Do Not Track signals from your browser will be honored.  Critical server logs are stored securely and may only be accessed by WHA employees or designees on a need-to-know basis for a specific purpose.

WHA will not knowingly collect, use or distribute personal information from children under the age of 13 without prior verifiable consent from a parent or guardian.

WHA does not sell, rent, or otherwise distribute any of your personal information to any outside entity or organization except under the following circumstances:

  • To comply with legal process or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims;
  • As described in the Notice of Privacy Practices
  • To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of WHA's terms of use, or as otherwise required by law.

WHA uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors engage with our website.  Google Analytics mainly uses first-party cookies to report on these visitor interactions.  Users may disable cookies or delete any individual cookie.  Google Analytics also uses IP addresses to derive the geolocation of a visitor, and to protect the service and provide security to our users.  WHA has applied IP masking so that Google Analytics uses only a portion of an IP address collected, rather than the entire address.  In addition, users can override IPs at will using Google's IP Override feature.

E-mail

If you identify yourself to us by sending us e-mail with questions or comments, we may use your personal information to respond to your questions or comments.  We may file your comments for future reference, or we may discard the information after we have reviewed it.  Any ideas, comments or materials you submit will be treated as non-confidential and shall become the property of WHA, and by submitting such ideas, comments or materials you automatically and irrevocably assign to WHA any and all rights whether now known or arising in the future to such ideas, comments or materials and WHA shall exclusively own all such rights, with no obligation to you of any sort.  This provision is necessary to avoid future misunderstandings in the event that projects developed by our staff might seem to others to be similar to their own creative work.

If you give us your e-mail address via this website or via any other method, we may send you unsolicited email with information about WHA, health or wellness or other possible topics of interest to you.  If you provide us your work email account or any account provided by your employer, your employer may have access to any emails sent to or from that address in accordance with your employer's right to monitor employee email.  If you request to be removed from our e-mail list, we will honor your request.  We will never sell your e-mail address or provide it to anyone else except as described in this Internet Privacy Practices or as set forth in our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Changes to WHA's Internet Privacy Practices

WHA reserves the right to make changes to our Internet Privacy Practices at any time by posting our new information on this website, in which case posting shall constitute notice to you.  Your continued use of the website constitutes your acceptance and agreement to be bound by any posted changes.
