Physicians Must Give Timely Notification of Termination

When a health care provider decides to leave a medical group or IPA, WHA must give its members at least 30 days notice in advance of the anticipated termination date. WHA requires that its contracted Medical Groups/IPAs provide notification of practitioner termination 45 calender days prior to the effective termination date.

Timely notification allows for the orderly transfer of your patients to other participating providers so that unnecessary delays in each individual's care are minimized. This enables us to ensure that the patient continues to have access to medically necessary services. Also, timely notification helps us to meet regulatory and accreditation standards.

If you plan to end your relationship with your medical group/IPA, please consider giving your medical group / IPA as much prior notification as possible as required under your contract.
