Preventive Health Guidelines (PHGs)
Welcome to our Preventive Health Guidelines (guidelines) Web page where you'll find guidelines for preventive services and Immunization Recommendations (recommendations). WHA developed its guidelines and recommendations based on the United States Preventive Task Force (USPSTF), Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) and other nationally recognized sources.
We encourage our healthcare providers to use the guidelines and recommendations to help promote and educate their patients about potentially life-saving preventive services and screenings such as mammograms and colorectal cancer screenings. The guidelines are reviewed annually or when updates are known and presented to WHA's QIC for review and approval prior to distribution. WHA's current PHG recommendations address:
- Children: Birth to 17 years
- Young Adults to Older Adults: 18-65+ years
- Immunizations
WHA's PHGs are distributed to all appropriate practitioners through the Provider Manual (see Appendices 1, 2 and 3) and New Provider Orientation Packets. A notice is included in the member magazine and the provider newsletter when guidelines are updated or revised.
