Local Commitment

Western Health Advantage is a not-for-profit health plan created by local health providers in the greater Sacramento area; emphasizing strong customer service and quality care for over 90,000 members.

We are a health maintenance organization (HMO) providing health coverage to employer groups of all sizes in our five county regions, including: Sacramento, Yolo, Solano, western El Dorado and western Placer. We are committed to improving the health and well-being of our community by expanding access to health care. We are also committed to responding positively to the changing needs of our members, providers and community, while delivering the highest level of service with integrity, accuracy and sincerity.

Member Satisfaction

According to a number of national and statewide reports on quality and customer satisfaction, WHA ranks among the elite health plans in the nation when it comes to customer satisfaction. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) rates WHA as "excellent", the highest accreditation given by NCQA, based on top marks in each of the five rated categories: Access and Service, Qualified Providers, Staying Healthy, Getting Better and Living with Illness.

Closer to home, the California State Office of the Patient Advocate, in another member satisfaction survey, reported that WHA answered more phone calls within 30 seconds than any other health plan in the state of California. The same study ranked WHA as the TOP HEALTH PLAN IN THE STATE in the following categories:

Advantage Referral

A unique feature of WHA is our Advantage Referral program, offering choice and flexibility with providers. Our members can easily be referred to most specialists in the WHA network, not just those in their Primary Care Physician's medical group.
