WHA rated Excellent Health Plan by NCQA

September 25, 2013

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognized Western Health Advantage (WHA) as an excellent health plan among commercial HMOs.

“We are very proud to again receive NCQA’s highest status accreditation for service and clinical quality, which underscores our dedication to the delivery of quality health care,” said Don Hufford, M.D., Western Health Advantage, Chief Medical Officer.

The “Excellent” status, according to NCQA, is reserved for the nation’s best health plans. It is awarded to those plans that meet or exceed NCQA’s rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement and deliver excellent clinical care.

Western Health Advantage’s commitment to member satisfaction shows in the outstanding results of member surveys.  WHA’s local member services department consistently delivers efficient, expert service. WHA offers a variety of health and wellness web tools such as MyWHA Wellness, available to members at westernhealth.com. MyWHA Wellness gives WHA members access to online Web modules and 24/7 advice from health care professionals to guide them through important medical decisions.

“The NCQA’s rankings reflect the dedication and care our staff and medical community strives to provide for all of our members,” said Garry Maisel, President and CEO of Western Health Advantage.

NCQA uses scores from HEDIS®, CAHPS® and NCQA Accreditation standards to calculate plan rankings. These scores reflect the results of consumer surveys and the plan’s success in prevention and treatment compared to other plans. Health plans voluntarily report their scores to NCQA using data from HEDIS® and CAHPS® in categories related to overall satisfaction, access to care, prevention and treatment.
